New page! Apparently Dunga and Drabble got their hands on some additional literature from Hemesh. I wonder how much THAT cost them? Given that Dunga is impoverished to the point of near nudity and Drabble may have sold his soul…a lot? Find out soon in BTB! 😀
Please back me on Patreon if you can! It makes a massive difference. More backing means more time to work on the comic! 😀
Also-Please comment-I love hearing from my readers 🙂

Holy Oaths may provide a lot of bonuses, but are so restrictive. At least with a pact with something you get bonuses and a bit more freedom. It just costs “a little” bit of your soul, nothing too major
Yeah-Just a tiny bit-You’ll never even miss it 😉
OHH!, I See a Villain mustache!
It does look a bit villainous 😉 A reverse Kaiser perhaps…
Yay for me accidentally being on to something, even though it was for the wrong reasons.
Also: Damn, vow of poverty has got to come with quite a bit of a bonus if you can’t even have guns or magic items, because otherwise there’d be no point in choosing that class.
Temperance and Chastity are easy picks if it’s just your character suffering from them, so I don’t expect those to be quite as effective.
Also also: I call bs on chastity being holy. A vow of “only doing it for the purpose of procreation (consent required)” would make more sense unless their god would want their followers to be unsustainable. There could be such a god though, but a god like that should be lawful neutral. Also there could be a lesser vow of “only doing it for the purpose of bonding and/or procreation (consent still required)”, which would only eliminate promiscuity but would allow for a monogamous marriage full of passion. Yeshka and virtually all your other characters would still reject any of these vows though, I bet.
Olga could do Chastity and Temperance though.
I agree with you on the chastity thing, but a lot of real world religions think differently about that. And fantasy ones for that matter. The Jedi don’t have kids (which I always thought was pretty silly-Since force users tend to have force using kids based on Luke and Leia).
Vow of poverty is a good one to take for a class like Monk as you don’t need armour or weapons anyway (though not being able to have any magic items kind of sucks).
Basically you can have a simple set of clothes and a simple weapon such as a wooden staff as well as a sack or cloth satchel and up to two days worth of food and that’s it. nd no borrowing items from other characters or you lose your vegan edge!
At Lv1 you get +4AC which is pretty great. Though that was in 3.5 D&D. A 5th ed equivalent would probably be a bit less potent. Maybe +2AC? Or you get your Proficiency bonus to AC (so +2 at lvs 1-4 going to +3 at lv5 and so on up to +6).
You get extra stuff at each level. As I said, an okay option for a monk, but probably not so good for classes that use a lot of gear- https://dndtools.net/feats/book-of-exalted-deeds–52/vow-of-poverty–3081/
I see. That vow does look like an interesting way to play as.
I think it’s a bit too radical to say “you lose everything forever if you own anything even for one round” though. I as a DM would probably have the character lose one benefit per round, i.e. he’d get benefits as if he were one level less per round of owning something, and restore those benefits at a rate of 1 per day, but only count the days where the character did something particularly charitable and have him roleplay it.
I wonder what he’ll say if any woman says to him “Make me yours!”
I agree with that. A good DM uses common sense as well as the rules-Erring towards leniency rather than tyranny (it IS supposed to be fun, after all :).
I expect he’d say ‘You cannot own a person-But I would be happy to have you as a valued companion-For love is worth far more than any treasure’ -And then he’d lose his powers becasue a nearby god was listening and took that statement too literally 🙂
Thanks!
Hahaha yeah he’d play right into that trope where wizards lose their powers for some times whenever they have sex. Not sure how common that trope is, but it does happen in Discworld and in Replaycomic. Until he finds a dominatrix who makes him hers.
