We finally got there-the scouter joke 😀 I guess that makes Venom ‘Son Goku’-though she’s been swimming in manure rather than training in the afterlife 😉 Oh Goret-such a silly boy-forgetting about the fireball. Will he throw it? Will he hit the target? Who knows?! I do. But you lot will have to wait until the next thrilling episode of BY THE BOOK!!!!!
At time of writing Top Web Comics is down-so you may have to wait a bit for the proper vote pic. I’ll rectify this asap!

My favorite version. If you’ve never watched DBZ Abridged, it is a must check out. Best thing to happen to any anime ever.
Yes-I’ve been watching for a long time-very good stuff 😀
What is CR 34 converted to 3.5 edition? Pathfinder only goes up to 30, aka Great Old One Cthulhu.
A CR 34 creature would be a good challenge for a group of 4 level 34 adventurers. You can go higher than this. I have the stats for the Titan Chronos somewhere-I think he’s CR 62 (or something similar) 🙂 34 is very high though-think ancient dragon with character levels 😉
Found this comic a few days ago, and finally caught up. Really enjoying it so far and can’t wait to see more.
As a few bored, slapped together references:
A Mighty, Mighty Sorcerer templated Great Wyrm Blue Dragon (CR 34ish) works out to something like:
952 HP, AC 48, DR 20/magic
6 attacks around +55 for a total of 8d8+12d6+127
Breath Weapon of 30d8, Reflex DC 56
A full Sorcerer’s Bloodline
2 9th, 6 8th, 9 of the rest spells per day, with DCs starting at 32
Then There’s this guy:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Megalith_%283.5e_Creature%29
And using Pathfinder’s very loose “Follow the pattern” 20+ advancement, A basic Barbarian would have (Using 16 Str/Con bases, 8 stat points so 20 each):
374 hp (34d12+170)
Attack+34 (+5 damage)
Rage +10 Str/Con (So another 170hp/+5 while raging)
DR 10/-
17 Feats, 17 Rage Powers, and several million gold worth of magical equipment
Glad you’re enjoying the comic 🙂 Nice examples! Yes, CR 34 is pretty impressive but also easily attainable with the application of templates, HD advancement and character levels :)With rage a barbarian of that level would reach Str40 odd (+5 str for wishes or manual of physical perfection,+6 str from items, +10 str from rage for +49 to hit and +15 damage -that’s before adding in things like power attack and magic weapon and the like-could be a hell of a lot higher :)). Could be higher actually as you can start moving into epic gear. There’s room for almost infinite advancement-as may occur if BTB goes on for long enough 😉
Being the He-Man collecting fanatic I am, it always made me wonder what he would be, and how dangerous he’d be in D&D. I have way too much MOTU stuff these days heh.
Hmm-hard to say. I have an okay understanding of D&D but I know next to nothing about He-Man. Does he ever perform any feats of strength or is any indication ever given as to the nature of his power, or is it more something that fluctuates with the needs of the story? The narrative is usually a pretty big factor in the strength of a character at any given time 🙂

They go into lots of detail about feats and abilities. Also another good show to watch.
Hmm-having listened to that I’d say He-Man would fit into a super heroes setting rather than Fantasy. Game wise you’d probably need ‘Mutants and Masterminds’. Even if his strength was D&D godlike rather than high enough to move a moon (maybe about Str60?) the battle harness would still increase it by 10. I think if you were making him in D&D the Harness would give +10 str rather than x10 (which is an epic boost-+6 is usually the max).
This would give him a Str score of 70 which would mean +30 to attack and damage on top of any other bonuses. One weakness might be a lack of battle experience. I doubt he’d be lv1, but he’d certainly be quite low level compared to his stats and gear-so if an opponent could take a few blows on the chin then they might be able to take him down (as HP are largely based on levels),
If he was a fighter as far as class is concerned he might also be quite vulnerable to enchantment spells or the like (low will save) though I’d imagine a D&D version of He-Man would have items and special abilities (res bonus and magic Res) to counter this to some extent 🙂
Eternia (He-Man’s homeworld) was such an odd setting to pin down. They still used armor, swords, shields and maces, magic was a thing, but they also had high technology levels. Blasters, freeze rays, deflectors, interplanetary travel since they had colonized their own moons.
Two things we do know: Don’t arm wrestle He-Man, and Yeshka/Master Venom would love him. What with being a near naked super hero with a godlike physique =P
I quite like that sort of setting. Reminds me of ‘Flash Gordon’ as well-robin hood dudes and hawk men with viking armour and maces rubbing shoulders with rocket ships and laser blasters -good stuff 🙂
lol-Yeah, I’m sure he’d be a big hit with the ladies of BTB. Kazu is also quite partial to a muscle man 😉
Hmm, speaking of CRs, what is Sir Volk’s CR? It must be rather impressive as well, considering the fact that he single handedly carved his way through legions of hell…
Hmm-good question…At a rough guess I’d put him at a solid 26-still hard enough to take a pit fiend (or half a dozen pit fiends) but not up to Venom’s standard (she is a Gauntlet leader after all).
I had to save this page. It’s by far my fave. Besides the sexy girl ones lol
Glad you like it 😀
