Filler2
The finished cultist designs. They rely on the enhancing effects of their drug masks primarily for their combat power, being otherwise quite poorly equipped with cheap or improvised weapons and wearing padded armour along with masks designed to intimidate the enemy and hide the identity of the cult member. These masks may be leather or on occasion ceramic and give the cultists additional protection.
Prolonged use of the drug may result in mutation. A discoloration of the skin is not uncommon, along with other effects, such as an increase in stature and muscle mass.
I’ve been working hard on the next scene, though no actual pages have been completed yet. I’ve written a fair bit and done some story boarding, but most of the work has been on background elements. Some settings (wilderness or interiors for example) require relatively little in the way of backdrops, this new location needs a little more work however.
I know some creators look on backgrounds as being of little import compared to character art, but for me they are quite important-particularly for a fantasy setting-so I think all this work will be worth the effort. I hope to have all the background stuff done by the end of tomorrow. Then I can make some progress on new pages 🙂
I have a few questions. Why do they have the little..the only way I can describe this is ‘doll’ parts on them? Also, if you were to destroy or otherwise remove their way of taking ‘faith’, what would happen if they were unable to get their ‘fix’?
These cultists are awesome, like they remind me of a reverse chaos cult and when I saw the big one on page 75 I thought he was a half orc. But I know now that he’s just an unfortunate, zealous, unstable guy who is very into collecting broken China doll limbs (DOES HE KNOW THAT CHINA DOLLS ARE RARE AND EXPENSIVE!?)
Ahhh, the life of a cultist must be a sad and terrible one. Get cut off from that faith drug and they would (presumably be) snivling, shrivled, emotional, emacirated wrecks 🙁
If you are still deciding on a name for them, you could always name them the Order of St Max the Furious :V
The person in the lower middle is my favorite when it comes to creepiness.
That new plotline looks interesting, because I totally expected the Gnolls, but then again, last time they fought an entirely different group, so they might not even be close.
Sooooo… what happened to the rest of the Dungeon Crunch? Argh, all this time waiting to find out about the new spells and you just go ahead and save all but one of them up to use as plot devices later. >_< I believe that summoning an Obscene Servant would make the new guys fly into battle rage instantly. But I don't care, I want to see that servant anyway. 😛
Hm… would it be OP if Zeen would get the typical low-level "Remove Poison" spell and use it cunningly to remove the drugs from those invaders, making them start fighting themselves, or at least making them weaker? Provided he can surpass their increased magic resistance and provided he knows about the drug, that is.
I hope I didn't just spoil the ending where he uses that spell, makes all of them weak, which lowers their CR and thus the experience points our heroes gain from it. 🙂
Neutralize Poison could work, although it’s actually quite a high level spell (level4) and cannot be cast by a wizard. A cleric can cast it, so Alice could-if she hadn’t used up most her higher level slots removing curses from people 😉
Don’t worry though-I’m sure Zeen will come up with something 😉
