Page 1005
New page! Kazu explains her anger and her cool new look and reads the Tanuki god the riot act on any more of his nonsense! I’m sure that’s that sorted out forever π The bards are level three now! Woo-hoo! They’ll get to take their bardic colleges if the team ever gain access to 5E rules. They totally missed 4E. Eh-Probably for the best… π
Sorry for the late update. I was running behind anyway and after making a comic page for the Patreon I was so far behind that I decided to delay the new page to its proper publication day (just a week late) π On the plus side, I was able to find the time to start woking on some character bio cards which I’ll be posting on the sie in the new year. I may also use some of these as filler in mid-late December as I think my life is going to get pretty hectic around the holidays π You can see one of these cards on my Twitter- https://twitter.com/bad_fierce
A massive thank you to my Patrons! You guys let me keep doing this and Iβm very grateful for it! If youβd like to have a hand in backing this depravity then please follow the link below and sign up! 😀
Remember-Only YOU can prevent the descent into βone size fits allβ grey sludge entertainment that everyone can consume but nobody really loves! Fight the power! Defy Disney! Unless the new film they make is good. Then watch it! Some of them are pretty good. Iβm waffling. Iβll shut up now.
Also-Please comment-I love hearing from my readers 🙂

Nice to see that Gadget finally made it on the scene, and it seems she sees something she likes as well! Though not so nice is the thoughts of Zeen with access to heavy explosives (fireball). Of course with two followers of the Tanuki god around his power might make a giant blast of fire interesting, so maybe it’ll balance out. About the bards, yeah I’ve not heard good things about 4e. They’d be better off sticking to 3.5e, but all I know about 5e is that its pretty much just baby’s first D&D. They apparently heavily dumbed it down to draw in new players who can’t handle the complexity of 3.5 (and they want 4e as forgotten as the fans do). As borked as the 3.5 system is, at least it can let you can take almost any crazy idea you want and make it a viable build.
Yeah, 4E had some cool ideas but the overall execution was a bit pants. Although I’m a veteran 3rd ed, 3.5 and Pathfinder player, I’ve been playing 5E now for a number of years and it’s actually a very good system. Not perfect, but in many ways great π
Things I don’t like about 5E:
They try to fit all races into a ‘one size fits all’ template and make them all more or less the same. It doesn’t do justice to very powerful races such as minotaurs or giants (which was somethig 3rd ed and Pathfinder did very well-As you could play those more powerful creatures by taking levels in them and then going into a class once you’d payed in levels and monster HD for all those amazing stats and natural abilities.
Crits. You just roll all the dice twice for a crit. This means characters with a low damage die such as a monk benefit very little from a crit whilst other classes such as Rogues (who sneak attack) or Paladins (who can smite) can do crazy damage on a crit. Monsters that have big damage die (such as a giant who rolls 3D10) also benefit disproportunately from a crit. When I run a game I house rule it that a crit does extra damage in D6 based on your HD with the same progression as a rogue’s sneak attack. So a level 1-2 character does an extra D6 if they crit. A level 3-4 character does an extra 2d6 etc.
Leveling up is sometimes a bit weak-Sometimes you go up a level and get almost nothing.
Multiclassing is perhaps a bit too good. I kind of like this (as I take advantage of it) but due to the fact that most classes get a lot of really great stuff front loaded into the first few levels, it does make dipping into several classes kind of a no brainer in a lot of situations
The monk sucks. I like monks but the people that make D&D don’t seem to be able to figure out that a class that specialises in close combat should perhaps be good at close combat. As it is the monk has poor AC, average HP and low output. They can do some cool things but their fundamentals need to be fixed.
Things I particularly like about 5E:
They made stacking magic way less effective. I used to play clerics that had very good physical stats and would boost them further with lots of long duration magical buffs. This was fun, but it got out of hand. In 5E you can usually only have one or two buffing spells active. This stops spell casters totally dominating things.
They made fighters good. I love 5E fighters!
The action system. Standard action, bonus action and reaction makes for very fun, dynamic combat π
Overall, as I said-It’s not perfect but it’s very good. Most of the things I don’t like are nit-picks while the things I do like are big fundamental mechanics at the core of the system.
It is unwise to threaten a god even if you’re there champion. They can still punish you in way’s you don’t expect them too and the type of god Tanuki is well he/she can be very creative.
Isn’t that right Peter. π
It can indeed be dangerous-On the other hand, annoying Kazu can also be hazardous XD I doubt the Tanuki will be able to control himself for very long. Hopefully he’ll at least be able to channel his aura of humiliating wardrobe malfunctions towards the enemy…most of the time π
Ahh Zeen im sure you too will give your party a memorable fire ball experience i certainly remember mine.
I’ve had a lot of ‘fun’ situations involving fireballs and similar effects. There was one player in particular (I won’t name names) who was notorious for ‘interesting tactical decisions’ that involved blowing up the rest of the party. I think his first offence in that regard was when most of us were engaged in hand to hand combat with a powerful devil (who was immune to fire). His first action with his crossbow wielding dwarf was to fire a magic bolt enchanted to detonate like a fireball into combat-Heavily damaging the party and having no effect on the devil XD
Later this same player would become notorious for his wizard ‘Jantin Ford’-Who later became known as ‘Jantin Ford: Destroyer of Worlds’ after his excessive use of fireballs caused the destruction of the homes of a subterainian tribe of humans when the whole cave system collapsed.
He ran the same character in a different game in which I was the DM. As he was unsure of what to do in one of the combats (as the party was once again closely engaged with the forces of darkness-Making the safe use of explosive magic all but impossible) I helped him with some impartial advice. Henceforth ‘Fireball the bastards!’ has become an oft used phrase within our gaming group π
nice! my situation was when we had a very annoying other wizard who was using hit and away tactics and our wizard named Kage fireballed him but he forgot we were in a corroder
Ah-Was that the old Advanced Dungeons&Dragons style of fireball that would fill up a space equal to the volume of the spell (meaning if you chucked a fireball into a narrow corridor you might get some blowback)? I think lightning bolts could bounce back on you in those days too. Modern magic is much more forgiving -Though strategic wall of stone plus fireball or lightning bolt could create some interesting effects back in the day π
Bingo good guess! Yep it was Advanced Dungeons & Dragons my DM still has the original books and is a traditionalist. fortunately the fighter had red dragon leather armor and lived while the cleric had resist fire from a fire trap earlier or we would be toast
You know you can come closer , Gadget =^_^=
Kazu is very brave , to dare to threat a god : especially this one XD
Kazu’s like most orcs-Very brave and a bit stu-, er, I mean-A bit ‘unburdened by the oppression of excessive cognitive activity’… π (if I use big enough words she won’t get mad at me).
Kazu should be jealous about Tanuki chosing Rath as his “knight” , in place of her ? ^_^”
I think Kazu sees the Tanuki as an annoying feature of her armour rather than as a being who’s favour should be sought. Rath’s welcome to him/her as far as Kazu’s concerned π
Looks like Gadget is being an Inspector here.
Looks like we found something the Tanuki god is actually afraid of: The law of comedy, i.e. even though there’s no way Kazu is nearly as powerful as he is, if the law of comedy dictates it, she can and will t(h)rash him if he causes an accident. But I bet all in all nudity in exchange of violence might still be a net benefit in his books.
Yes-Although he’s a god, he still fears the ‘comedic beatdown by an angry lady’ trope XD
