Also I wonder how many of those erotic Mangas are written by women, given the existence of 50 shades. In my experience, the blunter stuff is generally written by men while women prefer emotions (cf. this comic vs. eerie cuties) and there’s no lack of emotionally erotic Animes and Mangas out there, I just never bothered to actually research the authors’ genders.
Also yes, giving up the ghost has pretty much the same meaning in German.
