New page! Sorry for the wait. I couldn’t quite make it in time last week due to a Patreon comic page and this page being quite complicated to produce.
Almost at the end of the new weapon testing arc so do not despair if you’re starting to get fed up of various fantasy babes getting their armour blown off 🙂
My DM killed my friggin’ dwarf! A moments silence for Rabbi Stonebiter the level 7 (nearly eight) Dwarf Fighter. Died whist fighting nine trolls AND a higher level ‘troll king’ alongside an elf Barbarian who also died and a wizard and a rogue who shall be entered into the book of grudges for surviving. We kind of bit off more than we could chew. Should have gotten out but we came so close to winning! Tantalizing….
Is it okay for a DM to have the monsters use their actions to attack downed players, BTW? I know this can happen but it doesn’t seem like normal behavior to me. Particularly while other PCs were still up and attacking. All water under the bridge now at any rate (troll joke!). My next character is going to be an Eldritch Knight. Not as tough as the dwarf in terms of HP and DR (Dwarf had ‘Heavy Armour Master for -3 damage from every hit) but should be pretty tough with the shield spell as well as Mirror Image and Bladeward if I want to get fancy. One level Ranger dip for Hunter’s mark and magical Initiate for shillelagh.
Mage Slayer and Warcaster feats but I’ll be taking Polearm Master and Heavy Armour Master if I live long enough. Staff and shield loadout btw. D10 damage on the staff thanks to shillelagh. Duelist fighting style so with Str18 she’ll be doing D10+D6+6 most of the time. Three attacks per round once I hit Lv9. Four per round at level 12 with an action surge of 7 attacks. Owl familiar for flyby assist and advantage on first attack and ‘Topple’ from staff to hopefully knock target prone. Misty step and Invis spells for escape if we get into trouble again.

Darn sorry your character died it always sucks when that happens. as for attacking the downed players. if its an intelligent mob which trolls barely are then perhaps the trolls were wise enough to know downed adventurers can e healed. in fact since trolls regenerate they would be more familiar with the concept of coming back after being beaten to a bloody pulp. now was it right for the dm to not ‘accidently’ forget that? it depends on how realistic the dm wants to be and how challenging you want your game. when it begins to look like a party member could die i ask how realistic do they want the d&d game. also if you have surviving party members why hasn’t the dm made the quest one one of getting your characters revived either through a church or a divine intervention plus quest in exchange for the god resurrecting your party?
Hmm-Good point about the trolls and being familiar with people popping up again although they should really have tried to burn us. Maybe trolls should vomit acid onto downed PCs? Would make sense logically and would add a lot more urgency in healing downed allies.
Resurrection isn’t really an option as the trolls ate our bodies. True resurrection is almost unheard of. Regular resurrection(where you need the body and it has to be pretty fresh) is rare. Rogue and wizard did team up to recover our magic items. And sell our magic items. I wish they’d shown that level of dedication while to the fighting while we were still alive XD I kid really. It was a really tough encounter. I should have retreated. I guess I can say I played my stubborn dwarf to the hilt 😉
in my mind trolls have a fear of fire and acid should be something they don’t have as well. i imagine they break up the food inside by crushing it with stomach muscles or some other way or the acid in their stomachs could shut down their own regen.

I guess it depends on the setting. Warhammer trolls have very strong stomach acid and the game in question is set in the warhammer world. It does make sense that they wouldn’t have acid (as that’s one of the things that can turn off regen). Unless their stomachs are immune to acid damage (at least, to their own digestive acid).
Ahh Warhammer. that is definitely not something I’m familiar with. I’m far to much in love with Toril. (which is the name of the planet the forgotten realms takes place on.)

lol-Yeah, it’s a shame I couldn’t fit more of her in. Maybe I’ll do a giraffe lady pinup some time for the votes. I did one a while ago for Patreon which was fun to make 🙂
