ok now i have to build a pathfinder class around this card capture feature though it seems it would be op.
Balancing it would be devilishly difficult. You’re welcome to try though 🙂

first edition. id probably limit the amount of cards the wielder could have like a hand size limit and make him trade out cards as they acquire better ones
In 5E you could make summoned creatures ‘concentration’-Meaning they can only summon one at a time and that creature may vanish back into the card if the summoner takes enough damage 🙂
there’s also the summoner class in pathfinder that would work for the base structure but make it like a jailor or capture base class…damn it their a Pokémon trainer
This does beg a question, will those captured in card form with the command phrase have to obey if the card is on another plane of existence as long as their card is in the Captors possession?

I did think they’d have to be within earshot, but that idea presents some amusing situations. That said, there must be a limit. If they respond to anybody saying the phrase and if we live in an infinite universe with infinite dimensions, things could become very tricky if they respond to the command no matter where the utterer of the phrase may be.
Perhaps they respond regardless of distance if you’re the card bearer but otherwise they must be within ordinary hearing (though that could have other implications for a god or other being that may be able to hear the thoughts or words of mortals at a greater range).
