Page992
New page! Zeen plays for time but can barely get to grips with the job of freeing his allies. I wonder what the wolfy oligarchs have in store for our scaly stalwart? Find oput soon in BTB!
Late again. I knew I was running late so I wisely made a very complicated and dense page. The next one will probably be late too. I’ll do my best but events just keep on conspiring against my desire to draw smutty fantasy comics. Determination is key π Keep on fighting! π
A massive thank you to my Patrons! You guys let me keep doing this and Iβm very grateful for it! If youβd like to have a hand in backing this depravity then please follow the link below and sign up! 😀
Remember-Only YOU can prevent the descent into βone size fits allβ grey sludge entertainment that everyone can consume but nobody really loves! Fight the power! Defy Disney! Unless the new film they make is good. Then watch it! Some of them are pretty good. Iβm waffling. Iβll shut up now.
Also-Please comment-I love hearing from my readers 🙂

Always remember rule one of making a webcomic enjoy creating your work. (basically I’m saying make what you like if smut is your desire go for it so long as the story is complete in both our lifetimes im content at going at your speed)
lol-I know what you mean. I just wish I could make pages faster π
A phone , a gun and a bomb …………. This comic is slowly sliding in the twilight zone XD
I blame Zeen for that π
I remember back at 2012 somewhere on youtube some people having an argument about allowing canons and muskets/guns in d&d. I don’t see why not, even though it’s fantasy eventually a human, dwarf or gnome would make one and start mass-producing them. They should follow the same rules like a bow and crossbow, but more powerful. Besides this comic isn’t really following the rules of d&d, it’s more following the creators plot. So why not, as long as it fits. So maybe not a modern looking one, but one from the 18th,19th or early 20th century would look right.
Also, I notice that one image. Interesting position to try to free Kazu there Zeen. ;3
Oh yes-Guns are allowed as long as they’re period appropriate π There have been characters armed with early black powder weaons (for example, Koatek used a cannon in the battle against the mountain gnolls). Technology wise this world is at about 1600-1700, though there’s variance due to magic, gods, powerful monsters and the fact that it’s not exactly the same as our own world. Also, although such weapons exist the Arquebus is far from ubiquitous. Just as was the case in our own world, much of this setting is still medieval or even iron age or stone age in tech level π
I’m fine with primitive guns in D&D, though anything more advanced than a flintlock can be quite damaging to balance vs anyone who doesn’t want to use a gun. I tend to make such weapons very powerful but also very slow to re-laod. So a single shot from a gun at short range will cut through lighter armour and do a lot of damage but a gunner will then need to spend time re-loading (or resort to other weapons) while an archer can keep on shooting at a higher rate.
Eg-A flinlock pistol might have Piercing 3 at short range (ie-Ignore 3 points of armour or natural armour) and do 2D8+6 damage BUT the re-load time might be 6 ‘interact with item’ actions (thus requiring 3 full rounds of activity to re-load). Of course, a pistol user might invest in sevarl pistols, but once those are fired they may be better off resoring to a sword π
On this page I’d say the bomb is fine (grenades like that were used by grenadiers in the early 1700s/ late 1600s) but the assault rifle might just be pushing things a bit too far π
Yes-Zeen is in an interesting position there. I did have an idea where Zeen ended up making love to all the ladies on the team (or they did to him) but I decided not to over do the sex in this battle (more than I already have)-There can be too much of a good thing π
“but I decided not to over do the sex in this battle (more than I already have)”
Self-awareness is a very good quality to have. π
I mean, the scenes themselves are all good and fun, but what was their original mission again? Didn’t they set out to find Vaznev for some reason, or am I misremembering?
Also I personally would be fine if you temporarily resorted to a simpler cartoonish style for the comedic bits if you ever feel like pushing the plot forward faster, because for quite some time now your pages have been looking like they took a crazy amount of effort to create. I unfortunately have seen multiple artists overwork themselves by pushing themselves harder and harder until they had burn-out and depression, and it was always because of graphical art in one way or another. So I hope that you can avoid that pitfall. Otherwise you’ll be the 5th example for me to remember. π
Yeah-The complexity of the art can be an issue. I feel like the more you learn, the longer art takes (if you’re giving your all). Part of the reason I’m slower is that back in the day I just didn’t know any better and was less meticulous. It’s also because I’m a bit older now. Father time is a right bastard! XD I’ll do my best to keep going. I still love making the comics. If I ever had to quit it’d be down to not being able to make ends meet(and having to work full time doing something else) rather than burnout-At least as things stand. I still have loads of ideas and passion for the comic π
I see, being able to make part of your living by doing something you enjoy is a plus indeed.
Btw: Over at grrlpower the last few pages were done with a flatter art style to save some time because Dave got a cold, so don’t worry about letting go of some of the meticulousness as well, should the need arise. I never really look at the fine details of any comic anyway. I hadn’t even realized that in Replay the blurry forest backgrounds are just blobs until NI pointed it out, and that comic used to be TWC’s number 1 (until she decided to “take time off” to redraw the first iirc 50 or so pages). But when I look at your last few pages it looks like the background wasn’t the issue anyway, aside from that one panel where you drew the exploited small animals.
Yeah-I do have some time saving tricks. I make backgrounds that I can re-use a lot of times π
Oh man, the fun with anachronistic items. When I see something like that, I just assume it’s a future were lost “magic” can be found in various places. Society has “slid back” before.
I do like an ‘Actually this is set far in the future’ fantasy setting π
Awesome! I’m not alone! lol.
I’ve met a few “purists” out there.
There do seem to be some fantasy enjoyers that have very strict rules on the way things should be. They find a fantasy setting that they love and then they think every setting should be like the one THEY like-OR ELSE! π It’s okay to like certain things of course, but you get more out of life by keeping an open mind and being prepared to learn new things π
