This really is the most perverted fantasy comic I’ve seen. And I love it with or without that!
Yay! Perversity is a much maligned and misunderstood area of the art form-is not the erotic worthy of our appreciation? This realm has been the source of inspiration for artists for millennia. It is only in the last few hundred years that such things have been looked upon as low or somehow inferior. It is only in the last few decades that some of these attitudes have again begun to be challenged after the austerity of the war years and the paranoia of the cold war.
I want to be a herald of a new age of acceptance of the erotic-of the celebration of the sensual as a perfectly legitimate aspect of art and literature-perhaps the purest muse for we as beings of flesh, blood and desire.
That being said, this comic is pretty damned mucky at times 😉
And that, good sir, is why I am glad and willing to be a patreon.

Thanks a lot! I’m a proponent of being able to have sexy stuff but also trying my best to make a good comic. Some see ‘fan service’ as a crutch at best but I truly believe it’s possible to make a quality title that has humor and action but a bit of sex appeal too(just look at ‘Kill La Kill’. I just hope for more readers like you, that can accept the more adult aspects of the comic and also enjoy the other things 🙂
I think a combination of all these ingredients makes for a far more compelling package. The sexy elements have more of an impact if the characters are more fleshed out for instance whilst the story and humour elements can breathe more if the limits on what can happen are not so strict.
I think some people are so used to the norm-the Disney standard that was successful financially and so became the thing to ape. Nothing against Disney of course-I love a lot of their stuff-it’s just that we don’t ALL have to make Disney-and if you’re not making squeaky clean ‘genitals do not exist’ Disney standard it doesn’t have to be XXX porn either (although that’s good too if that’s what you’re looking for ;).
BTB falls somewhere in the middle. I try to make an adventure comic of the highest quality I can that includes a lot of silly jokes and a fair bit of steamy stuff-all rolled together, rather than the sexy just being dolloped on as an afterthought to try and get more readers 🙂
Unfortunately some people are put off by this-they see it as a cynical attempt to grab more attention. If I was opposed to this stuff and did it anyway, then I could agree, but this is the sort of comic I would like to read (very silly at times with plenty of action and some characters that are pleasing to look at) and that I enjoy making. Everyone has their own limits on what’s fine and what isn’t of course, and I’m fine with that. People are free to shy away from things like BTB-it doesn’t make them wrong-just as we are not wrong for liking it 🙂
I guess the point is, be true to yourself, let people enjoy what they want to enjoy and be excellent to each other! Thanks a lot for the kind words 🙂
