Since the Nemean is way too powerful for the tactics they’re using I’m sure something will come up that will allow her to discard her oath to help the witch sniffer, as I really doubt they’ll beat her by force of arms. That wing gust thing alone would be enough to handle the mob of villagers.
She’s powerful. Too strong for the villagers maybe-Though ‘Quantity has a quality all of its’ own’ as a certain famous Joe is reputed to have said 😉

Hm, now that all the fanatics are done for, I am wondering if at least the Nemean would be willing to talk diplomacy. Like, you know, talking about the Galanesh stone and how it’s a dangerous thing to have and how the crew actually fought Galanesh once already, back in the days before this comic changed from deeper story-line to naked humor galore.
Man, that defeat by modesty gambit was able to overcome even the effects of the drugs the fanatics have been taking. It must have been quite a weakness of theirs. These people won’t get far in your world. 😀
Don’t worry-There will be deeper storyline-There just doesn’t tend to be much during a battle 🙂 This fight was mostly about silly combat gags and fan service, but it did set up a few important elements for the future. The faction that the Nemean belongs to will be important, the cultists will also be important, as will the Tanuki god and gods in general (or lack thereof). There’s still story going on-It’s just well hidden under a layer of nearly naked warriors 😉
They could try to talk about the stone, but the Nemean is well aware of its’ powers and the danger posed by it and is also aware of what happened at the tower. Our heroes did try talking to the cultist faction earlier in the battle to no avail. It’s possible they could reason with the Nemean, but they’re in the middle of a fight. It’s quite hard to start a debate under those circumstances. Not impossible, but not easy 🙂 Our heroes may be less aware than we are about the Nemean’s wavering loyalty to the cause of the Witch Sniffer. He is not her true master, but she has been ordered to help him. Zeen and the others don’t really know much about this arrangement though. Although they can see she’s a bit different, they don’t have much reason to try to talk to her at this stage 🙂

She has no interest in this cult’s crusade against the ‘impure’ but she’s still responsible for keeping the Witch Sniffer alive and aiding him on his quest. She could just grab him and fly away with him (I thought about having her do that) but her respect for the authority of the Church is perhaps too strong to take such an action without being ordered to do so 🙂 There is also personal pride at stake. She’s nicer than the Witch Sniffer, but she still doesn’t want to flee from a battle if she can help it.
Well ……….. So , i can only wish a good luck to Nemean and hope she’ll survive to the dishonor of defeat
Thanks for the explanations. 🙂 I thought about diplomacy, because the Nemean didn’t attack right away and instead tried to stop everyone with an intimidating display of power, so I thought that talking diplomacy might even be the very thing she’s aiming for.
It’s funny that “nearly naked” in your comic means that the only clothes they’re wearing are for the legs and arms and such. XD
And don’t try to make the excuse that this is a battle, because I didn’t see any increase in the story-to-nudity-jokes ratio outside of battles in the recent years. 😉 But all in all you gotta do what you like best. I just like to poke fun at this change in your comic occasionally. As long as Vaznev doesn’t become a balloon-breasted goof-off, too, I am fine. In my opinion there’s gotta be some serious characters to make the comedy work better.
My favorite BTB joke is still Alice placing an immovable rod inside a piece of wood and asking that steam knight guy to pick it up for the camp fire.
Yeah- Drawing buff naked characters does make it easier to keep going (more fun to draw) but I try not to include scenes if there’s no strory merit at all (unless they’re very short). I did agonise over this whole sequence before I started it, but I decided it was important to introduce the Nemeans and the holy league early on as they’re going to be quite important 🙂 I probably could have gotten through this scene a lot quicker, but sometimes it’s more about the journey than the destination 😉
That’s not concerning all character or NPCs of the comic : only women , females or sexy guys are included in the “naked operation” …………….. This means that only 95% of the characters are concerned =^_^=
