New page! So that’s what became of the previous heroes that wished to unravel the mystery of the vanishing guests. Why are they still alive? Perhaps Mortubera lacks the strength to turn them fully to her will and into vampires? And more mind control? Something about this situation seems familiar…. Is a Galanesh stone involved? Just a couple more pages and we’ll have (finally) reached the end of Chapert 5! Chapter 6 will find Rath and the other making a move in their persuit of Vaznev! I also plan to organise that chapter into smaller ‘issues’-Similar to a printed comic, rather than the somewhat rambling nature of Ch5.
I’ll take a short break between chapters, but during that time I’ll still be working hard and will hopefully add a few features such as a proper archive, a character guide and a ‘story so far’ section where the events of each chapter can be quickly covered or refreshed.

Thought so. They were the previous adventurers. This talk of the “Machine” lends further credibility to the idea that it isn’t really Mortubera in charge. An extremely powerful undead necromancer who apparently eschews magic for technology? As also seen in the floating magnet anti-magic orbs that Goret’s team dealt with. It just seems an unbelievable 180 degree shift in MO to me. Good money on them also letting the feral vampires keep Hathoraz as their cut. She may be intelligent but she hasn’t really done much effectively in combat this adventure and may be seen as an acceptable loss. XD
Well remembered on the orbs. Odd, that a powerful undead creature that has been out of action for the last 200 years should be so good with advanced tech…
Which makes me think it’s the gnome tech in disguise that’s actually behind it. The one who went missing first and Vascarl even wagered 100 gp I believe it was that she would end up being the bad guy. 🙂
I think Hathoraz may use this to her advantage, turning them on each other.
That may work. Or perhaps Hathoraz will be used to achieve the opposite effect… 😉
Either way, things are going to get messy between servants.
I feel like there is a roughly 100% chance that Linnea has the mindless ones betray the other vampires, and specifically includes them being cut by the jester’s knives to make it a pun-based betrayal.
That would be a risky move-But I wouldn’t rule it out 😉
