Possibly my fave band. I found them at the age of 13 and was blown away (back then gaining access to music that wasn’t just poppy radio stuff wasn’t easy for a person as clueless as I was (no internet, no MTV, no cool friends). I was like ‘There used to be such cool music back in the 80s. Now it’s all this boy band and love song rubbish’. Not realising that the sort of music I liked was still there-I just didn’t yet know what it was or where I could find it.
Not that love songs are inherently bad. Just a bit over-represented IMO. Heavy Metal is one of the genres that makes music about other stuff-Like werewolves and dragons and whatever movie Iron Maiden happens to have seen recently. Important, weighty subjects! XD
Nice little background about your favorite genre of music, and confidentially, for me it was “One” that turned me into a metal head.
