Capture cards are normally set to release their prisoner one year after capture as a failsafe (in case the bearer dies or what have you) but it’s possible to make the time longer or shorter. Shorter would be more usual. Opponents would usually be released from their card with some powerful geas on them to discourage them from further acts of wickedness or to complete a punishment deemed fit by the god or practitioner of the merciful hand fighting style.
Since the Tanuki god thrives on embarrassing nudity, such conditions or tasks often have an element of embarrassment to them. For example, perhaps a knight or warlord that terrorised a community might be made to serve as a naked or scantily clad labourer or tavern wench within that community for a period of time until their debt is deemed to have been repaid. Even after this, any attempted acts of unjust violence might result in further punishment or a return to the prison card. Thus while the enemies of the Merciful Hand will not be killed or maimed by their defeat, their ability to do harm to others is seriously cutailed. Merciful, but not foolish.
Sorry for being a bit late. A mixture of things caused it-Though a big part of that was a 1.5 day D&D session-Which I suppose could be seen as research 🙂 I’m currently running a wizard (1 level of artificer for medium armour and shield prof, 3 levels of wizard) and running a game. Not my best work as time is tight and it’s really just a filler game between proper campaigns (I don’t usually DM) but it’s three sessions in now, so it’s going okay 🙂 I quite enjoy DMing, though finding the time to prepare games is tough.

Yes because the Tanuki’s concern for keeping someone trapped too long is completely out of kindness and respect for their wellbeing and not because he’s projecting after the other gods locked him away for all that time. 🙂
Hmm-That could be true-Though the Tanuki god isn’t evil and he would be more concerned for mortals than for another immortal being such as himself being trapped 🙂 Although being trapped long term wouild be bad for anyone, it’s less serious if you’re a god or what have you-Since seeing mortal beings age and die and the world change around you is less shocking when you’re used to it vs a mortal missing their place in time due to being imprisoned this way.

Don’t recall the tenuki God’s belly being quite that noticeable before. Am I just imagining it, or is it some sort of sympathetic symptom of Rath’s activities?
its Possible, though Tanuki’s are generally portrayed with fat round belly’s so that may be what Peter was after.
Which is certainly fair. I had flipped back a few pages before posting that to make sure I wasn’t imagining it, and there was a lot more ab-action from tanuki before this, I thought.
You could be right 🙂 Tanuki milf is supposed to be a bit softer and more Rubenesque but I do tend to lean towards making my characters quite muscular so I may have accidentally leaned into that 🙂 Although I try to keep my characters ‘on model’ I will vary how I draw them slightly depending on mood and I may change how they look if I feel like a new design is better.
Sometimes my characters change appearance for a very particular reason or to convey a mood or emotion (some species of pathetic fallacy) but more often than not it’s because I’m a bit of a dummy and I made a mistake 😀 On the plus side, such mistakes sometimes lead to good things and the evolution of a design into something better 🙂
Hey, I’m not complaining or being judgemental here, especially since tanuki has already demonstrated transformative abilities. I just tend to make leaps in speculation on stories. Especially in captivating scenarios.
